How do I edit my host file?

To point a domain to a specified IP address ONLY on your local machine, you will need to edit your host file. There are a number of reasons to do this; some examples include:

Test your PHP script before pointing your domain to us.
FTP directly through your domain, before having it pointed to us.
Publish with FrontPage before pointing your domain to us.

If you are running a Windows PC, your Hosts file will be located within: C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32DRIVERSETC

Simply open the file 'hosts' with a text editor such as notepad or wordpad, and add the specified IP and webaddress to the last line of the file. Remember to save the file when you are done.
